What do you get when you combine teams of pit masters, high class bands of all shapes and sizes, pork, beef, chicken, lamb and sausages releasing their tempting odours into a blue summer sky full of smoke and sunshine? You get the ‘Masters of Meat 2018’
A spectacular event bringing together some of the best BBQ masters in Australasia. I had the pleasure of attending this event courtesy of my brother who was running the live band stage. A role he is an expert in having travelled the world as a professional music event production manager.
Combine that with his love of all things BBQ and he was in his element, as was I. It was a feast for the lenses as much as it was for the taste buds and nostrils. I will let my pictures do the talking but rest assured if you ever get a chance to attend an event like this somewhere on the globe, and you are a meat lover? Never, ever turn it down. You would be sorry you missed the chance.
Sitting waiting on my plane back to Wellington. Wanted to put together a quick update and say new words and photos are coming soon. Early morning street shots from the city, some evening shots from Auckland and some shots taken from a recent food photography course that I attended.
I learned so much, and met some great people so will be sharing these soon.
On the music front loads of new stuff hitting my ears and so certainly going to make an effort to put up some links.
… a taste
This last week Wellington has been a buzz with the Lions in town. A sea of red jackets around the streets mixing and mingling with the local, vibrant community. In between meetings I had my camera with me to capture some of the people walking the streets of our capital. A city is nothing without the people that inhabit it and often the people are a reflection of the place they exist.
The Colour Shots
and the B’n’W
Well, yes its been another while but I have been taking the opportunity to shoot some pics of the great city I live in. Wellington is the capital of New Zealand and has many places for some great photo opportunities. I have also spent my downtime working on my own website http://www.camcreative.biz all of it being great relaxation therapy. I am also finding my style and what I like to shoot and its certainly heading towards street, urban and landscape (with a touch of portrait thankfully supported by my four great step grandsons and extended family). I hope you like the shots of this awesome city. Onto more adventures soon.
Sitting in the airport terminal, waiting for the plane home to Wellington after 5 days of cooking classes, beach walking, sunsets and work… I have not been on for a while but then life has been busy, as it sadly gets, and we all know. Riding the waves of change into the mid-winter, listening to a lot of The 1975 and taking lots of shots. I thought I would share some of the most recent, the amazing Auckland sunsets and more. I do really like the black the and white of the guy in the street in Takapuna. I wonder where he was going and what he was thinking?
I also love the Giraffe in the window, just bizarre looking back at the world. Young people in love on the amazing beach in Takapuna, and the guy walking the high ground lost in whatever world he was in. I also was lucky enough to see the seaplane over the harbour bridge, taking me back to my youth when seaplanes were the only way to get out the islands in the harbour. I remember my dad flying in them, long before ferries. It is great to see them back again across the city.
Anyway, if your reading this I hope you enjoy some of these shots…. I am glad to be here to see them and take them.. but I can’t wait to get home to SK.
In Wellington, you find some really great street art, especially some of the roller doors. Just a sample of these on a morning walk around the city.
After the recent bad weather in NZ, we had an awesome day last Friday. I had a meeting in town so went in nice and early and took some shots around one of my favourite areas of the city. Eva Street, Cuba Street and the surrounds, always line up some great images. Hope you enjoy.
